POSITION OPEN - Records Management Technician

The Alliance of Tribal Nations (ATN) and Nlaka’pamux Nation Tribal Council are looking for a Records Management Technician who will be responsible for scanning documents from existing paper copies in a document archives and linking them to their digital records in the data-base.

This position will involve careful organization, scanning and refiling of historical documents, as well as integrating them into the existing electronic data-base records.

Successful applicants will have:

  • relevant experience working with office computers, document scanners and computer data-bases;
  • significant experience using Adobe Acrobat (or similar PDF creation programs);
  • Excellent filing and organization skills;
  • careful work habits and the ability to focus on details for long periods;
  • a good record of reliable attendance.

The project is to be completed by 31 March 2013.

Where:
ATN Office, 550 Sixth Street, suite 220.  (6th Street and 6th Avenue), New Westminster.  
The Sixth Street bus (10 minutes to the New West Skytrain Station) stops in front of the building.

When:                  Mondays to Fridays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.      

Salary:                   $30,000 per year

Position: Aboriginal Advisor

Classification/Salary:
Social Program Officer SPO30: $67,177 to $76,911 annually

The Program - Community Living British Columbia [CLBC] funds the delivery of support and services to adults with developmental disabilities and their families throughout British Columbia. CLBC staff strives to adhere to the corporate vision of adults leading ‘Good lives in welcoming communities’.

The Role – Reporting to the Director of Strategic Planning, the Aboriginal Advisor establishes effective working relationships with Aboriginal people and groups in British Columbia. Identifies and implements strategies to enable CLBC to work effectively to meet the needs to Aboriginal people who are eligible for CLBC-funded supports and services as well as provides Aboriginal communities with information to assist with their planning. Working with CLBC’s Self Advocate Advisor and Family Partnership Advisor, this role assists in enhancing individual and family friendly practices within CLBC and the wider Community. The Aboriginal Advisor is responsible for acting as a lead to address CLBC’s Operational Plan objectives that are related to Aboriginal issues, raising CLBC’s profile with First Nations’ people and help them understand what supports and services are available. This role also conducts training for CLBC’s staff, management and Board, and Community Council and the Advisory Committee members on Aboriginal cultural competency.

Qualifications – A self-starter of Aboriginal heritage with a degree in human services. A well developed understanding of issues facing Aboriginal people in BC, including a familiarity with the structure and operation of developmental disability supports and services in BC and the community serving organizations that play a role in supporting all citizens, including those of Aboriginal heritage. A good understanding of different learning styles and corresponding communication strategies. Strong leadership and project management skills, as well as the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and have a high profile in the Aboriginal community is vital.
